Raising Godly Children - 2
 

1. Must have the Godly attitude

Psalm 127:3-5
3 Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him.
4 Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth.
5 Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.


Sons are a heritage from the Lord.

Parents responsibilities

a. To teach

Deuteronomy 6:6-7
6 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.
7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.


b. To train

Proverbs 22:6
Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

c. To provide

2 Corinthians 12:14
Now I am ready to visit you for the third time, and I will not be a burden to you, because what I want is not your possessions but you. After all, children should not have to save up for their parents, but parents for their children.

d. To nurture

Ephesians 6:4
Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

e. To control

1 Timothy 3:4
He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect.

f. To love

Titus 2:4
Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children,

2. Must correct in a Godly manner

a. Don't spare the rod

Proverbs 13:24
He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him.

b. Must discipline

Proverbs 19:18
Discipline your son, for in that there is hope; do not be a willing party to his death.

c. Folly is bound up

Proverbs 22:15
Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from him.

d. He will not die

Proverbs 23:13-14
13 Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish him with the rod, he will not die.
14 Punish him with the rod and save his soul from death.


Guide for raising children :
1. Parents must be unified about disciplining
2. Sleeping at night must be separate
3. Discipline must be done in control not out of anger
4. Discipline must be consistent
5. Never fight or disagree in front of the children
6. Never discipline in front of anyone
7. Don't call them bad or naughty. (Be positive)
